BIG ISLAND Farm Sanctuary Volunteer Retreat
August 23rd-30th, 2024
Come play, volunteer, and relax on the Big Island of Hawaii with the animal residents of Big Island Farm Sanctuary on this 6-day, 7-night adventure.
Hosted by Big Island Farm Sanctuary Founder, Paula Buck, with special guest, Allison Luci aka @allieforthesoul, this retreat is sure to leave you feeling refreshed and fulfilled. Spacing is very limited, so check out the details below and reserve your spot today!

Welcome to Glamping at The Sanctuary!
You'll be staying at Big Island Farm Sanctuary in our brand new 10x20 ft ohanas (guest houses). Each ohana sleeps up to four (queen bed and sofa sleeper) and shares a common outdoor area, kitchen and bathroom with the other guest houses. (Pictures coming soon)
Fall asleep to the sounds of nature and wake to the sounds of rescued animals ready to start their day. Sunrise yoga is available every morning for those who would like a calm, focused start to their day.

Breakfast, lunch and dinner will be provided with the exception of one dinner on arrival day. Breakfast will be continental style with plenty of fresh fruits, bagels, waffles, coffee and more. Lunch will be packable so that we can enjoy it on the go, and for dinner we'll be cookin' up some good ol' campfire/BBQ favorites- vegan style! If you have any allergies just let us know.

At night, we'll sit around the fire (wind permitting), gazing at the stars, making s'mores, and talking story. We can even head over to South Point for a gorgeous view of the sunset. One of the evenings, we'll head into Kona for a sunset Manta Ray swim.

Make new friendships that will last a lifetime all while helping the animals of Big Island Farm Sanctuary!

We are so excited to welcome Allison Luci to this year's retreat. For a long time, Allie's dream has been to be able to travel to different sanctuaries and paint for them. Her dream is coming true, as she's painted for Arthur's Acres in New York, and Odd Man Inn in Tennessee, and now she's headed here to put her special touch on Hawaii.

-
Big Island Farm Sanctuary- We'll spend the first part of each day working on projects that need to be done from building to painting and more. There is something for all physical abilities.
-
Free Time- After a hard day's work, you'll have the option to head over to a local beach and snorkel, play in the water, or just relax. And, of course, you'll have plenty of time to spend with the animals, so bring a book or your favorite instrument to share with them.

-
Coffee Farm Tour- While Hawaii is known for its world class coffee due to its unique island microclimate and extra care taken by generation after generation of coffee farmers, Ka'u coffee is considered the best of Hawaii coffee. We'll tour a local farm and see how the magic happens.

-
Lei Making- One of the highlights of our 2022 retreat, Brittany, from Wild Blooms Hawaii has been making leis since she was a child. She’ll be sharing the culture of lei making as well as her talent as she guides us in making our very own leis.

-
Sip ‘n Paint- Back by popular demand! Spend the evening sipping bubbly (non-alcoholic available upon request) and painting with the beautiful and talented Allison Luci, aka @allieforthesoul.
